Purchasing Assistant/Buyer

My client, a successful manufacturing company in Basildon, is currently looking for a Purchasing Assistant/Buyer to join them. This is a full time position which offers a good starting salary of up to £20,000, including flexible working hours and free parking.
This role is on a contract/temporary basis until the end of 2008 and is within a salary range of £15,000 - £20,000 dependent on suitability and relevant experience.
The individual will be mainly responsible for placing purchase orders on an internal system as quickly and efficiently as possible, progressing and chasing outstanding orders, maintaining and managing suppliers input to the company to fit with requirements.
Ideally this individual will come from a defence, electronics, manufacturing or automotive industry and will have experience gained at a lower level buyer/purchasing assistant level where they are used to working on purchasing system(s) and dealing with purchase orders.
