Business Development Manager

My client is a subsidiary of one of the largest corporate business information groups in the UK, working predominantly with pharmaceutical clients. They are currently looking for a Business Development Manager with front line key account management experience to join them in their Basildon offices on a permanent full time basis.
As Business Development Manager you will be responsible for identifying, developing and closing business opportunities with clients. The position is mainly office based but will also involve some travel to clients offices, so it is essential that you hold a clean, full and current driving licence.
The main tasks associated with this role include:
• Account management for allocated clients across all company products
• Meeting sales targets for new business
• Ensuring your allocated clients are happy with the service they receive from the company
• Meeting profitability targets and managing your own time, expenditure and business plan
• Contributing to the product development and planning processes to meet client demand and satisfy market opportunity
This position would best suit someone who has a sales background and is passionate, hard working and pro active. You will also need to be a competent user of MS Office with experience of project management, proposal writing and closing business deals.
As this is a key position within the business, it is essential that you have previous experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry or with pharmaceutical clients, ideally working with prescription medicines. You will need to have a sales / business development / marketing / product development / market research background within this area.
