Job Description

Our Client is looking to recruit a proven leader to manage their Claims Team based in Colchester. The team manages a portfolio of large and complex losses across many classes of business.

The team focus is on delivering and enhancing extraordinary claims service whilst placing an emphasis on proactive claims handling and risk and indemnity management.

You will work closely with the Senior Claims Management team to deliver future claims strategy and ensure that the department is aligned with the overall business strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • €¢ Lead and motivate a team of Senior Claims professionals delivering a market leading service to clients and brokers.

  • €¢ Develop the team through coaching, structured training and exposure to business leaders.

  • €¢ Ensure accurate and timely reserving and a transparent approach to problematic and high profile claims.

  • €¢ Regular reporting to lead underwriters and product heads on trends and areas of concern, supported by accurate MI to enable us to respond to market changes swiftly.

  • €¢ Ensure that the claims function is up to date with changes in the legislative, regulatory and legal environment and is able to respond where necessary.

  • €¢ Act as a technical point of referral on claims from various property, motor and liability books of business.

  • €¢ Relationship management of strategic partners to strict KPIs including loss adjusters, solicitors and third party providers.

  • €¢ Building a relationship and gaining internal, broker confidence when handling losses.

  • €¢ Ability to solve complex issues on individual claims as well as drive the direction of the whole portfolio.

Personal specification

  • €¢ Solid insurance industry experience ideally handling liability claims either from an insurer, loss adjusting or legal background.

  • €¢ Applicants will have strong technical competency and a good understanding of the legal process.

  • €¢ ACII qualified or progression towards.

  • €¢ Proven track record in leading, motivating and developing a team.

  • €¢ Ability to demonstrate success in delivering excellent customer service.

  • €¢ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish credibility and long lasting relationships within the wider business and with external partners.

  • €¢ Good understanding of risk and regulation and be able to adhere to set reporting and claims management requirements.

  • €¢ The ability to understand the impact of claims decisions on the wider UK business.
