    Our client is seeking a temporary dispensing technician for an initial 6 month fixed term contract.

    Primary Role:
    To assist in the routine dispensing activities and quality control testing required for the production of sensor chips.

    Production of sensor chips to fulfil the requirements of Research, Development and Operations. It is likely that the main activity will be the production of product for commercial sale. The successful applicant will also work with the dispensing scientist and operations engineer to optimise the mixing and dispensing processes for the successful production of sensor chips.
    * Mixing of solutions to be dispensed
    * Dispensing of solutions onto sensor chips
    * Quality control checking of the dispensed sensor chips
    * Attending production meetings to report on yields and progress
    * Optimisation of mixing and dispensing methods
    * Verification of mixing and dispensing procedures

    Skills:
    * Ability to follow an SOP
    * Accurate recording of results and work under taken
    * Planning
    * Computer literate with Windows operating system & Microsoft Office experience;
    * Able to competently operate instruments/machinery (following full training)

    Solution preparation
    * Preparation of solutions according to good laboratory practice
    * Use of a laboratory balance, pH meter, volumetric flask, mixing equipment
    * Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and COSSH requirements
    * Calculation of molarities, volumes etc

    Dispensing
    * Operation of dispensing equipment (full training will be given)
    * Handling of solutions
    * Handling of sensor chip wafers or individual chips
    * Attention to detail
    * Recording of information
    * Ability to develop and follow procedures in a repeatable manner and to a high standard;

    Quality control checking
    * Use of imaging equipment to assess the quality of the manufactured sensor chips (full training will be given). Measurements of deposited volume and the shape of the membrane structure will be taken
    * Attention to detail
    * Ability to follow a set procedure and record information accurately

    Planning
    * The successful applicant will be required to produce sensors as required by the weekly demand plan which will be supplied by the Supply Chain Manager
    * The successful applicant will be required to undertake additional pieces of work proposed by the dispensing scientist and/or the operations engineer. These pieces of work will be focussed on optimising the process, sensor performance or quality control testing procedures

    * Able to work to tight deadlines without close supervision and without loss of attention to detail or accuracy.

    Education:
    * Science or engineering based degree or good grade Science 'A' levels
    * Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications

    Experience:
    * A minimum of two years experience in a similar laboratory or production role is highly desirable;
    * Experience of working with quality systems e.g. ISO is highly desirable;
    * Working in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice and Health and Safety procedures is essential.
